A Bearded Axe-Crusher from American Kami, 1095 differentially-heat treated steel. 9” axe-head and 18.5” inches overall length.
An axe is a slower weapon than a knife or a sword, because its weight is forward. Swinging it tends to upset the balance more. Compared to a sword, it is harder to hit a moving target because of the narrower striking surface. However, pound for pound it can deliver more powerful strikes. It is also more useful for all-around chopping work like clearing brush and splitting wood. American Kami’s design adds a ridged belly for hooking, dragging or tugging, a chisel-like secondary crushing point, and a tertiary spiked pommel, allowing great versatility in its use.
